IMBALANCE
- this image and your comment about it really got me thinking...
Something is strange about this photo, not quite right, I think it is something to do with the lamp, drawing my attention away, distracting me, I enjoy this image and looking at this model.
the mood conveyed, the lighting and the almost (and here I get a little bit fanciful) the almost-illusion of cheek highlights making her look like she is a white girl with beautiful flowing hair wearing native war paint. Or perhaps fantasy football makeup. She seems natural, healthy, not quite flirtatious, just beautiful, slightly bored, but still interested. All these emotions and ideas can flow from looking at a photo if someone takes the time and is not embarrassed to share one's thoughts.
One more item, it is very strange thing but I feel I should comment on it.
I don't think that the people posting about you and pornography, have much of an inkling as to what the word pornography means. A woman without a shirt is NOT pornography. Pornography is a much stronger word than that, but the word pornography is cheapened when used by the over zealous.
Much like the word 'love' is cheapened when you 'love' a donut or a hamburger. If you 'LOVE' a donut and you 'LOVE' your wife. Well that's not a very healthy relationship! I am sure there are other more suitable words and until the definition of the word pornography changes your work is not suitably described by it. the term Pornography is often used in combination with obscenity, and if your work enrages the prevalent morality of the time, a time when anyone can view any number of sexual acts streaming or still shots on almost any internet connection, then people are expending far too much energy in the wrong directions. There are injustices and imbalances out there, and quite frankly your work does not even begin to enter the fray.
Your work is wonderful, I enjoy the models that you photograph, and the images they help you create. Thank you for sharing your gallery.
